The new production team will have in mind how they want to take forward the series from 2010 and Steven Mofatt seemed to indicate in DWC that they had no pre-conceived notions of whom they wished to play the Doctor . . . they saw a timeless and ageless quality in Matt Smith that was perfect for how they see the series developing. It sounded like the part could have gone to any age of actor but that Matt won them over immediately.
I for one back their decision and sure the series will be safe in their hands - good luck Mr Smith playing Dr (John) Smith!!!
Do people think a new companion will be cast for the last DT Special to bridge the regeneration process???
